Other Personal Projects
Hi, I'm
Stanton Brooks
I am a User Experience leader with professional experience in research, design, and development. I believe in getting the right work done for the right reasons, and I work to help businesses develop UX maturity by focusing on on cross-functional collaboration, human-centered solutions, and delivering real business results.
I am a 9-year Veteran of the United States Army, and I had the pleasure to serve across the globe, from Texas to Egypt, and even South Korea. I’m a lifelong science fiction fan, former DJ, and I love learning new things. Please reach out if you have any questions or if you would like to connect.
Serving Leadership
Speaking of leadership, I believe in supporting our team as a foundation. When I have the privilege of leading, I provide support for our team, trust them to achieve their objectives, and provide them with the air cover they need to ensure they have the space to deliver creative solutions. In my mind, we are all one team. I may be responsible and accountable, but we are all working together as a team to win.
UX Architecture
Systems thinking is an important skill in UX, and I have a deep passion for connecting the dots between systems, while taking into account the impact any changes will have on the people who will use them. User experience is not only useful for external users - our partners and stakeholders are customers too.
UX Research
Understanding the humans who use the things we create is a critical part of the work we do in UX. I believe in conducting research in whatever way is possible. Some of the methods I use to conduct research are contextual inquiry, surveys, moderated user tests, unmoderated user tests, and direct interviews.
Project Management
On time and under budget. That's the adage project managers have lived by for so long. But, there's more to project management - there is a human element that is critical. I believe in making honest commitments about what I can deliver, and when - we can keep the pace of delivery while working as a mutually considerate team, and we can be transparent with our stakeholders and our leadership.
Information Architecture
The way we organize information goes well beyond menus. In order for our experiences to be as effective as possible, it's important to consider the way information is typed and categorized. Well-structured information that meets the needs of the user is a joy to interact with, and that delivers better business results.
UX Design
UX design is about more than pretty pictures - it has to be functional. I believe that aesthetics are important, but the more functional a design is, the better its chance for success - our users deserve to have the best experience possible when they are interacting with the solutions we design and build.
